Many ships also went to Boston in New England to trade with corn and flour, and take in exchange, flesh, butter, timber, different sorts of fish, and other articles, which they carry to the West Indies.
The colony's governor, Peter Stuyvesant, wanted to expand New Netherland, so he attacked the charter colony of New Sweden in 1655. The main settlement Stuyvesant attacked was called Fort Christina, and was settled by Swedes. After the Dutch attacked, the Swedes surrendered Fort Christina.
